Samsung seems to be zeroing in on a corner on the TV market with this remote they are releasing and might give Apple a run for the money. Integrating my TV and computer is a novel idea, only it isn’t portable. Buying two computers isn’t very practical since the TV will be one computer essentially, so I see Apple coming up with something different. Eventually, I would love to have my computer act as my TV receiver, and in the 6 years I have worked for DISH I could see them doing such a thing. Right now I know that my priority is to be able to utilize the 200 HD channels they have in every room, so I started with upgrading my TVs to a 1080p model. I can’t afford Smart TVs in every room, but now I have the best picture quality available and it is free for life with DISH. When this tech is affordable in 5 years or more, perhaps 3D TV, Super-Hi Def and “virtual” displays that are like a Star Trek Holodeck will be the next development to strive for.
